A NOTE FROM OUR CONDUCTORS

This blog is about the musical aspects of the group and our involvement in the 2016 International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) and submission of our album, Awake to the Best of Collegiate A Cappella (BOCA). This specific blog is written by our three wonderful conductors!

Please enjoy!

Lauren Bristow (Conductor):

I'm truly excited that Premium Blend has decided to compete in the ICCAs this year! We just finished making our audition videos and submitted them this week. This year's group is filled with such talented and vibrant women who are ready to take on this competition! We are currently preparing our ICCA set and it's already such an exciting process. You can expect to be taken on an emotional journey because that is one thing that Premium Blend does best. We really dig deep to the core meaning of each song we do and each girl shares their feelings and stories when they sing every song. This really helps us connect with our audience and take them on our journey with us. We plan on bringing that same passion and emotion to the songs we sing at the ICCAs. There will be more music updates to come and we're so ready to begin working for this amazing competition.

Jenny Schulte (Assistant Conductor):

First off, we had our block 1 concert on October 4th! The audience showed a lot of love for our killer sound, our brand new teal heels (a.k.a. the Karmen Pumps), and the new girls who helped to put on an incredible first concert. Now that we're halfway through the semester, we have some exciting things in the works:

1.We sent in a few videos and should hear back soon if we're accepted into the ICCA-Check back here or on Facebook for updates!

2. We submitted our new album, Awake, to the Best of Collegiate A Cappella! If accepted, we'll be featured on the 2016 BOCA album. Again, we'll keep everyone up to date about it here and through social media.

3. Our second concert is fast approaching! It'll be on December 4th at 7:30 in Emerson Suites. We're already hard at work on some fun new music for this throwback-themed concert.

4. Our block 1 concert videos are almost ready for Youtube! Check back soon to relive all the excitement and sweet jams.

We can't wait to see what the rest of this year has in store, and we hope you're just as excited! Thanks for reading--stop back again soon!

Sara del Aguila (Assistant Conductor):

I couldn’t be more excited to have submitted our audition for the ICCAs! Premium Blend is absolutely everything to me— I’ve learned so much during my time in this group through touring, performing, and particularly when we recorded our album, Awake. Choosing to compete was a pretty big decision for us, and I can’t wait to see our group learn even more while we dedicate our time to preparing for this competition.

I have an endless amount of faith in Premium Blend this year; we were lucky enough to put together a group of extremely talented and passionate women, and I’m already so proud of what we’ve accomplished in such a short amount of time. One of our strongest suits as a group is our ability to communicate a message to the audience. In our Block 1 concert, we threw ourselves into every single song we sang, and I know that everyone in the audience felt the emotion and passion that each performer brought to the table.

I’m so excited to see where the rest of the year takes us, and I truly can’t wait to show the world how amazing we are. Cheers to the ICCAs and more!
